Scottish National Portrait Gallery
The Scottish National Portrait gallery tells the story of Scotland from the XVI century until today through the portraits of its most illustrious characters: kings, rebels, poets, philosophers, heroes and common people. Some of the portraits were made by famous artists, the likes of Matisse, Picasso and Dali. The gallery also keeps an unparalleled collection of paintings of the XX century, including works by Bellany, Gillies, Peploe, Davie and Redpath. An additional hall hosts sculpture works by Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Anthony Caro and many others.
During summer, the café offers open air tables on the terrace and the lawn, while the gallery shop sells original gifts and brochures.
Inside the gallery are often held temporary exhibitions.
