Scottish climate is rather variable. Depending on the zones, even within short distance, there might be different atmospheric conditions.
Scotland is located in northern Europe, close to the Arctic Circle, and it’s only the Gulf Stream that mitigates the climate.
This position causes frequent rainy streams, so it is very common in Scotland, just like in the rest of the British Islands, to assist to rainfalls of variable intensity and duration all year round.
As the following table shows, temperatures rarely rise over 20°, even in summer. For this reason, it is recommendable to visit the region from May to September, also taking into account the great affluence of visitors crowding the capital in August.
During winter months, the inhospitable climate of the Highlands becomes even more rigid, so it would be preferable to visit the cities in this period, and leave wild nature to a summer visit.
