Events in Edinburgh

As for events in the city, the most spectacular is probably the Hogmanay, a celebration of New Year in the Scottish manner. During the event the entire population of Edinburgh crowds the streets and squares to celebrate in a funny and chaotic way the end of the old year and the beginning of the new.

In August there are two particularly interesting events: the Edinburgh festival, this year from 14th  August to 6th September 2009 , and the Military Tattoo Parade, from 7th to 29th August 2009.
Edinburgh Festival  represents one of the major art festivals. The event was founded in 1947, and it offers a concentration of avant-garde theatre performances, opera and ballet shows, concerts and film screenings, with artists coming from all over the world. The festival is a must for all art lovers.
